Lifelong Saratoga resident Rhonda Whetstone Neibauer, has just published a book on the history of the township of Saratoga. The book, "Saratoga Sands," spans the history of the township from its earliest times to 1925.
Drawing upon old town meeting minutes and records, old plat maps, land documents, and verbal and written historic accounts, this is the first time a full picture of the early days of the township is presented. The book includes actual stories from those times also, as well as mention of many of the founding families and settlers in the area. Some of the earlier residents have sections on just them, including Rhonda's own family.
This book is a must for genealogists and lovers of history, as well as anyone interested in the roots of the township or their families. A comprehensive index provides access to a lot of local names. There are also many photos included in the 200+ page book.
A professional genealogist and historian, Rhonda also writes features and has a bi-monthly column in the local newspaper--The Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune. Her column, Rhonda's View Rendezvous offers up stories of the past from this central Wisconsin area.
